Man on a Bicycle

I took this "Man on a Bicycle" photograph at the 2021 Tulsa Mayfest. As I was walking through the festival, this man's boater hat and velvet dark purple jacket immediately caught my eye. I knew I had to photograph this man's unique look. As I was walking towards him I noticed he mainted a smile the whole time, he seemed like a gentle soul. "Excuse me sir, would you mind if I took your picture?" He returned my question with a simple thumbs up. I love this picture because of the story the photograph tells. A couple of years after, I submitted this photograph to the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. It ended up winning a "gold key" which allowed me to exhibit this photograph at the Oklahoma State University Bartlett Center. I am so thanful for this opportunity, it was a surreal feeling. To this day, everytime I go to downtown Tulsa I always keep an eye out for the "Man on a Bicycle."

The Piano Man

I took this photograph of "The Piano Man" in downtown Tulsa, right outside of what was the Ahha Tulsa building in 2022. My grandma and I were taking a stroll around the city to photograph the trees changing colors due to the fall season. As we were walking on the side of the Ahha Tulsa bulding we heard some beautiful piano notes, we turned around the corner to see this man playing away. My grandma and I took a second to listen to his playing skills, he played elegantly. I crept up just a little bit, "Excuse me sir, that sounds beautiful, do you mind if I get a picture of you?" I didn't recieve a response, he just kept on pushing those piano keys. I eventually worked up the courage to take his picture, making it obvious I was so he would be aware, in case he didn't want his picture taken he could inform me. He didn't look up once, just kept looking down and making lovely music. This photograph will always have me wondering what stories this man has to tell.
